Department Profile

The School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSHH) in D Y Patil International University (DYPIU), Akurdi, Pune is a vibrant academic and learning environment that aims at developing thoughtful, socially conscious, and future-oriented graduates. In keeping with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the School fosters interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking and holistic growth and trains students to learn about and respond to complex human and societal issues.

The School aims to equip students with analytical skills, cultural sensitivity, and practical competence to address societal challenges and contribute meaningfully to academia, industry, policy, and community development.

Award of Degree

Certificate in Liberal Arts: Awarded at the end of the 2nd semester, subject to satisfactory academic performance in all semester examinations, attainment of a minimum CGPA of 4.00/10, and successful completion of the 4-credit summer internship.
Diploma in Liberal Arts: Awarded at the end of the 4th semester, subject to satisfactory academic performance in all semester examinations, attainment of a minimum CGPA of 4.00/10, and successful completion of the 4-credit summer internship.
Bachelor of Arts (Liberal Arts): Awarded at the end of the 6th semester with the applicable track, subject to satisfactory academic performance in all semester examinations and attainment of a minimum CGPA of 4.00/10.
Bachelor of Arts (Liberal Arts) Honours: Awarded at the end of the 8th semester with the applicable track, subject to satisfactory academic performance in all semester examinations and attainment of a minimum CGPA of 4.00/10.
