The report of the Faculty Development Programme
The School of Media and Communication Studies, D Y Patil International University, Pune, successfully conducted a five-day Faculty Development Programme titled “From Practice to Publication: Research Writing in Media, Humanities and Social Sciences” from 25th May 2026 to 29th May 2026. The programme emerged as a vibrant academic platform, bringing together nearly 60 participants from different universities across India. With a strong focus on research writing, publication practices, and knowledge creation in the fields of media, humanities and social sciences, the FDP encouraged meaningful academic engagement and enabled participants to reflect on the complete journey of research, from identifying ideas and developing papers to publishing in credible academic spaces. The sessions were designed not merely as lectures, but as opportunities for dialogue, reflection and practical learning, making the programme highly relevant for faculty members and researchers seeking to strengthen their scholarly work.
The FDP was inaugurated by Professor (Dr.) Manish Bhalla, Vice Chancellor, D Y Patil International University, and was graced by Professor (Dr.) Madhavi Deshpande, Dean, Faculty of Non-Engineering, and Professor (Dr.) Arvind Kumar, Director, School of Media and Communication Studies. Over the course of five days, distinguished resource persons including Dr. Anisha Thomas, Prof. Pradeep Nair, Dr. Priyanka Dhoot, Dr. Gauri D. Chakraborty, Dr. Lakshmi Lingam and Dr. Tilak Jha shared valuable insights on research in humanities and social sciences, academic paper writing, journal publication, use of research tools, innovative research approaches, edited volume contributions and converting projects into publishable papers. The programme concluded as a successful and enriching academic initiative, reinforcing the School’s commitment to promoting research culture, interdisciplinary inquiry and publication-oriented academic practices among scholars and educators.
