FY BTech Mechanical Engineering students from the School of Engineering, Management and Research (SoEMR), DYPIU, visited Bhor Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering of D.Y. Patil International University organized an industrial visit for second-year students to Bhor Hydroelectric Power Plant on 26th and 27th February 2026.
The main objective of this visit was to give students practical exposure to power generation and understand the real-life application of mechanical engineering concepts. During the visit, students learned how hydroelectric power is generated using the potential energy of stored water. The engineers explained the working of turbines, generators, shafts, control valves, and cooling systems in detail.
Students also observed the control room operations, safety systems, and maintenance procedures followed at the plant. The visit helped students understand energy conversion, efficiency, and the importance of renewable energy sources.
Overall, the industrial visit was highly informative and beneficial, enhancing both technical knowledge and practical understanding of power plant operations.
