M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Physical Systems)
D Y Patil University offers MTech in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Cyber Physical Systems (CPS). CPS is used for systems involving dense embedded sensors and actuators, interconnected by the Internet of Things, with computing in the network, or at the edge, or in the cloud, for the purpose of observing, controlling, and optimising socio-technical systems such as smart farms, smart energy grids, smart urban water networks, smart homes, smart factories, or smart cities. CPS enables these systems to achieve increased adaptability, autonomy, efficiency, functionality, reliability, safety, and usability.
Assistance is provided through either Teaching Assistantship or Research Assistantship with a monthly stipend of 15, 000/- for an all-inclusive period of two years, subject to fulfilling the norms of the Institute. The assistance is provided only if the scholar is not receiving funding from any other source.
Opportunities in CPS
Companies like Flipkart, Amazon and Delhivery are offering starting salaries of Rs. 12 lakhs per annum (LPM) for graduates in CPS. Companies are offering up to Rs. 50 LPM for candidates with 5+ years of experience. Bangalore and Pune enjoy the highest number of job openings in areas of CPS. CPS field is growing at a rapid pace, promising higher salaries and better opportunities in future.
Cyber Physical Systems require good understanding of Software, Hardware and Communication Systems. This program has four semesters. The first semester courses "Introduction to CPS and Use Cases", "AI for Cyber Physical", "Internet of Things" cover the technical knowledge required understanding and building CPS, while the “Soft Skills” course equips the students with required soft skills for a successful career. Additional bridge course help fill in the gaps in the knowledge of students coming from various educational backgrounds. Second semester covers advanced concepts of CPS with courses "Advanced Cyber Physical Systems", "Cyber Physical Systems Design", "Security and Privacy of CPS" and "Embedded Systems Software". Third semester looks at applications of CPS in areas like Healthcare, Transportation Systems and Robotics. Students will get a chance to put their acquired knowledge to use by starting Thesis in third semester, which will be focus of fourth semester. Applicants are expected to hold a bachelor’s degree in either computer science, electrical engineering or communication systems. Students from other disciplines may be considered for admission if they have sufficient background in the basics of embedded systems. Preference may be given to students whose backgrounds are in one of the target application areas of cyber physical systems. Consideration will be given to students with relevant industry experience. Applicants are encouraged to include hands-on project experience, if any, along with their application.
