  • Able to design IoT Architecture
  • Apply IP-based protocols and Authentication Protocols for designing IoT.
  • Analyze various IoT Application layer Protocols
  • Design IoT-based systems for real-world problems
  • Understand IoT general models, power management, and security challenges in IoT
  • Interpret IoT security and vulnerability threats in IOT Environment
  • Understand different IoT protocols and their security measures and malware attacks on IOT devices
  • Are being explored to advance IOT technology to meet the demand and supply of industry needs

Overview:

  • The Internet of Things (IoT), is defined as the network of devices, vehicles, buildings, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity that enables these objects to collect, exchange and act on data
  • The success of home automation systems like Google Home and Alexa have led to a spike in interest in IoT.
  • McKinsey predicts the IoT market will be worth about $500 B by 2020, growing at a rate of about 10%
  • Industrial products are leading in IoT adoption at 45% with an additional 22% planning to adopt IoT in the next year
  • Regardless of industry, IoT is predicted to be one of the single most important factors impacting fundamental business logic in the coming decades

Opportunities:

  • Internet of Things applications can be found in every industry with a diversity of applications for smart homes, smart buildings, travel and transportation, health and personal care, retail, agriculture, construction, etc
  • Amazon alone has hired about 25,000 people to work on its Smart Home platform Alexa
  • Google also employs a huge number of IoT experts for its Google Home platform.
  • Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, and Hyderabad have the highest number of openings for IoT-related jobs

Course Curriculum:

  • Programming an IoT requires a deep skill set that includes hardware such as microcontrollers, software, sensors, and communication
  • These foundational skills are taught in the first and second academic years.
  • The IoT program consists of a total of eight courses taught in the third and fourth years, along with one main project
  • Foundational courses "Introduction to IoT & Applications" and "Fundamentals of AI/ML" are taught in the fifth semester
  • The sixth-semester course covers protocols, architecture, and security aspects of IoT systems through courses "Architecture and Protocols", "Cloud Architecture and Programming for IoT" and "Privacy/Security"
  • The seventh semester covers advanced IoT courses
  • IoT is the "smart" factor of Smart Homes, Smart Appliances, Smart Cities, Wearables, Smart Supply chains, Connected Cars, and such. Currently, at 10 Billion, the number of IoT devices is projected to explode to 1 trillion by 2025 and so are the opportunities
  • Experts in the Internet of Things command salaries of about Rs. 24 lakhs per annum
  • By taking this program, you will be ready to design IoT solutions and guide cutting-edge IoT projects in the field of your choice
