Cyber Security Course Overview

This track course has been designed to prepare engineering graduates who can

  • Understand the nature of secure software development, operating systems, database design, and security management methods to maintain security protection
  • Understand the cyber laws, legal, and ethical code of conduct, and social issues in developing solutions
  • Will be able to perform all types of security testing, including fuzz testing at each level.
  • Will be able to evaluate a web application for vulnerabilities and generate a report on the evaluation and its results
  • Understand the basic digital forensics and techniques for conducting forensic examinations on different digital devices
  • Understand how to examine digital evidence such as data acquisition, identification analysis, concepts in cyber law, intellectual property and cyber crimes, trademarks, and domain theft.
  • Explored the concepts and foundations of cyber security, and identified vulnerabilities of IT systems and use of basic security tools to enhance system security
  • Will be able to develop basic security enhancements in stand-alone applications
  • Able to design a high level of professional ethics in providing security in the cyber world.
  • Are being explored to update on recent advancements in cyber security techniques to solve societal problems

Course Curriculum:

  • The foundational courses required for Cybersecurity, like Programming, Operating Systems, Databases, and Networking, are taught in the first and second academic years.
  • The cybersecurity program consists of a total of eight courses taught in the third and fourth years, along with one main project
  • In the fifth semester, students are introduced to what is called "Security Mindset" in the course "Introduction to Security" and "Fundamentals of AL/ML"
  • It involves thinking like an adversary to make or break things in a variety of ways.
  • Along with that students are exposed to security at the application level through the course "Software Application Security"
  • In the sixth semester, students are taught about security from a computing system and network view in courses "Software Systems Security" and "Network Security".
  • Along with that they are introduced to how AI can be used as a tool for detecting and thwarting security attacks
  • In the seventh semester, students are exposed to various aspects of Internet Security in the course "Internet Security", how to defend information systems in the course "Securing Information Systems", taught how to find evidence in crimes in the course "Computer Forensics"; "Cybersecurity Threat Management" course teaches them about how to handle a security threat when one happens
